Translation project for all Swedish songs
Since Agnetha’s remastered Swedish albums have been re-released in a CD-box-set at the end of last year the interest of the international fan community is focussed on the Swedish songs. If you look at the forums, you’ll often find questions about the lyrics and questions like “What does this or that mean?” It is quite clear that the fans who don’t understand Swedish would like to know what it‘s all about.
For these reasons www.agnetha-forever.de is proud to present the complete translation of all Swedish songs of the Första-Åren box-set (6 CDs) into English.
The translations are formatted as pdf-documents. This makes it easier to maintain the download site than putting everything on HTML-pages. But the main reason is that pdf makes it easier for customers to achieve proper printouts, for that’s probably what you want to do with it.
The translations are kept as close as possible to the original wording without sounding too awkward. Swedish is somehow straightforward, as the Swedish people are as well. You sometimes need less words to say something than in English or German. This means the verse measure of the translations in general won’t fit the melodies and rhymes are lost as well, of course. So better don’t try to sing the English text to the original melodies. You’d run into trouble. I’ve tried it and I failed. ;-)

Thanks to Gerry and Ben from the ”Club of the Truest Hundred”. Gerry revised the English translations and proposed some bugfixes. Although he couldn’t doublecheck it with the Swedish original he was a big help. Ben gave valuable native speaker‘s advice when I was stuck with a Swedish expression. Special thanks go to Rikki Sjöberg (www.rikki-sjoeberg.de) who revised translations of parts 4 and 5 in a professional manner. (These editions have version numbers 2.0 and above).

Any upload to other servers without permission is prohibited. Direct links to pdf-documents are prohibited. The pdf-documents can be passed on for free but shouldn’t be altered in any way. Thank you for respecting this. All the work is for your pleasure but should stay recognisable as my own.
